HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (March 29, 2007) - The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) is pleased to announce the finalists of the 2007 NKBA Design Competition. Winners will be recognized at the NKBA Design Competition Awards Ceremony live on the show floor of the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show and Conference (K/BIS) held in Las Vegas in May.

The annual NKBA Design Competition - now in its 35th year and open only to NKBA members - recognizes excellence in the field of design, paying special attention to kitchens and bathrooms, but also covering other projects that reflect the scope of work accomplished by Association members. The NKBA Design Competition recognizes the talent of kitchen and bathroom designers to plan safe, functional and personalized spaces that incorporate imaginative design statements and aesthetically pleasing solutions. The NKBA would like to thank the generous sponsors of the 2007 NKBA Design Competition: Sub-Zero/Wolf, Miele, Kitchen and Bath Ideas and 20-20 Technologies.

In 2007, the NKBA received a record number of entries - over 565 projects from across the United States and Canada. The Medium Kitchen Category attracted the most attention this year with over 100 exciting designs submitted. Kitchen and bath designers are also working throughout the home - the number of entries for the Other Rooms Category more than doubled from last year's competition.

A panel of 14 NKBA certified designers judged each project based on visual appeal, creativity, elements and principles of design, presentation, and safety and ergonomics, using the NKBA Kitchen and Bath Planning Guidelines.

First, Second and Third Place winners, as well as Honorable Mention, are awarded in 11 categories. In addition, four special awards - Best Before and After, Best Overall Kitchen, Best Overall Bath and the Pinnacle of Design, recognizing the best overall project - are awarded. Winners receive recognition and publication in Profiles Magazine, the official NKBA member publication and possible inclusion in local and national publications. Winners also receive awards, cash prizes and complimentary registration to K/BIS.
